YOUTH LEADERS CAMP 2021

Our mission is to cultivate meaningful experiences for God’s people to be rooted and grow.

What Makes this year unique?

Many of the teenagers have been hurt and struggling with anxiety caused by the chaos of this world. We understand the thoughts and feelings of uncertainty and how it shapes our perspective of life. We want to take this year’s YLC as an opportunity to encourage, equip, empower, and engage our young people through conversations and team-building activities to remember the hope that we were given by our Lord Jesus Christ. Teenagers need relevant tools as we guide and walk alongside them with not just answers, but the questions toward faithful living. Together we’ll reflect and share different life struggles that we’ve experienced or are still present in our lives. We’ll also be able to hear from different staff members who have once undergone the same struggles. In addition, we will continue to watch how our Lord Jesus entered into anxious situations with his disciples, and explore life in an anxious but hope-filled world.

Curriculum

We understand that after this past year of sheltering-in-place, it has been a challenge for many of the youth to foresee what being “normal” looks like anymore. From the unending thoughts of uncertainty to the countless days without social interaction, it has been a rough year. However, even with the roadblock that distracts our normal lives, we cannot just stop there! We want to take the opportunity to discover how we grow in resilience in terms of our character, in our communities, and as young leaders that continue to look to our Lord Jesus Christ.

“FAITH IN AN ANXIOUS WORLD” | RESILIENCE DEVELOPMENT

Character Development | identity & strengths & weaknesses

Community Development | teamwork & church life

Social Development | friends & peers

Resilience Development | being open-minded to challenges

Leadership Development | stepping up & getting out of your comfort zone

Young Leaders Conference

The Young Leaders Conference is a 4-day, 3-night offsite retreat* that challenges our young leaders to grow in faith, leadership, and in community. We will be engaging in team-building activities, hiking, worship, small group discussions, and interactive messages that inspire growth. After a year of being homebound, stepping outside our homes and even our neighborhoods can be difficult. In a world filled with seemingly constant bad news and anxiety, it is important that our teens are grounded with the truth that Jesus’ power is enough for us to step courageously out of any circumstance. We seek to equip young leaders to use their unique gifts, skills, and faith-driven perspectives to make sense of this world. This conference will be held on the third and last week of YLC.

*For summer 2021, we are considering an alternative location as our usual retreat site (ARCG) is unavailable this summer. We will update parents at our YLC Orientation. (see below)
