MISSION & VALUES

Our summer ministry continues to engage youth and families to discover the gift of Jesus’ love and grace through creating various impactful experiences. Some of these experiences include building friendship through small group time, fun and creative activities, alongside mentorship, and family-friendly events.

CORE ASPECTS OF SDC

MATH excel

Our teachers focus on the exposure of math concepts that can help prepare for the student’s learning in the upcoming school year. We do not expect our students to solidify these concepts in the short time we have together. Our teachers will incorporate formal learning and hands-on activities to help our campers learn.

kids disciple groups (KDG)

Kids Disciple Group (KDG) is a time when we discover more about Christ and ourselves! During KDG, we explore the week’s Bible story and what it means in our lives. By sharing and listening to one another, we build strong friendships and a community.

interactive fun

We want to build a community within our camp and help our campers learn vital social skills. We encourage connection and relationship-building in all aspects of our camp. We are dedicated to embracing the outdoors to have fun, build friendships, and create healthy habits while being in a safe space! Bringing our learning outside can stimulate our senses and exploration!

curriculum

This year, our camp theme for SDC is True North, trusting Jesus in a wild world!

True north is a fixed point on Earth’s globe. Unlike magnetic north, true north is unmoving, unchanging, reliable, resolute.

With True North as our praise & worship theme at Summer Day Camp, our campers will recognize how easy it is to lose sight of what’s true in our wild world today and learn that Jesus is our true north. We’ll embark on a four-week journey full of faith discoveries, memorable music, and epic adventures that help kids grow in friendship with Jesus!

statement about children’s ministry

We believe each child is unique and special. Every child is our God’s beautiful unique creation. Our God cherishes each one of us and therefore, places all of us together in a community of believers, where together, children will grow in maturity. We believe real learning takes place when connections are formed, experiences are built, and guided reflections are made. We also adopt and apply R.E.A.L. Learning –

Relational: Relying on learner-to-learner interaction to form connections and build friendship

Experiential: What learners experience will stick with them up to nine times longer than just listening

Applicable: Kids are challenged to find how the experience or truth applies to their own personal, day-to-day lives

Learner-based: Kids learn best when the learning process takes into consideration how they learn best
